The Party in the Park was first started
in July of 2002, by a group of the younger residents of the town, with Lucie Thomas elected as Chairperson. Lucy subsequently
became a member of the Caerwys Town Council, and became the youngest Mayor of Caerwys to be appointed in 2008 / 09.
The group wanted to resurrect the ' Carnival
Fever ' but in a different and more modern format. The Annual Caerwys Carnival had ceased a few years before, which apart
from the local summer agricultural show, there was nothing else during the summer. The group first decided that the event
would be free for everyone and started to fundraise in many different ways.
The event has become a yearly attraction and is thoroughly enjoyed by everyone
- especially the children.
The 2011 Party in the Park attractions, consisted of a ducking stool, rodeo bull, greasy pole, an inflatable
maze, bouncy castle, unicycling and street skills. A live band, kinder music for babies and toddlers, various stalls, some
of which were local committees fundraising.
